The Mad Deco Mesher!

I've gone a bit cuckoo for wreaths and deco mesh lately. It all stems from the fact that now we have a house I can decorate and I know we will be here for a long time. Hence the ability to plan decor that lasts for years, albeit my haste to put it all together in the first year is a bit exhasutive....BUT I decided to invite THE ENTIRE NEIGHBORHOOD over for a Biscuit Brunch! More details and posts on that later. Thus the need to glamorize my front entrance and interior...meaning it was finally time to hang up pictures! (What a chore!) With that in mind, here are a few pics of our entrance decor...along with instructions on how I did it!
I got these topiary trees from my mom. The lights did not work and they were very skinny and ugly. I added deco mesh in a cascading swirl, tying it into the tree with floral wire every so often to give it those poofs. To hide the wire, I tied in plastic red and green ornaments from Dollar Tree and Walmart. Deco Mesh was from Sams Club and was about $6 for 21 yards of 21 inch wide Red and Green Rolls.

The wreath was an old frame that was falling apart and cracking, so I added deco mesh to the backside and added wired ribbon bow. I love the big curling trane for the wreath!
I also did 4 other wreaths using deco mesh, wired ribbon (from Sam's) and the same plastic ornaments I used for the topiary and front door wreath. I hung them on the front porch and 2 front windows.

All in all, I was pretty pleased with my results for a first go around. I think for next year I will add lighted garland with deco mesh swooping down between the columns. But I will wait until LED lights go on sale before I buy enough of those to light all that garland. But I did grab the 9 foot roll of green garland at dollar tree in anticipation of next year's efforts. :)

Next post is on my Biscuit Brunch this Sunday. For all you gals that read Southern Living...yes I totally stole the idea from them, but it was cute and cheap way to invite the entire neighborhood to a party...which has grown from RSVP of 8 to now a whopping 30! Yikes!
